Acquisitions Department: Order Process
What Happens After My Order Gets to the Library?
When orders reach the Acquisitions Department, they are entered into the library catalog as soon as possible so that patrons will be aware of "on order" titles. After materials are received and paid for, this status is changed to "in process" as the material is passed to the Cataloging Department.
For the convenience of library patrons, Acquisitions maintains detailed records of journal and magazine receipts in the library catalog. Within hours of receipt in the building, the latest periodical literature is checked-in, marked and ready to be forwarded from Acquisitions to its established location in the library.
General questions and specific inquiries about the status of book orders should be directed to the main Acquisitions department number, (803) 777-2495.
Questions regarding periodical or serial orders or receipts should be directed toward the Serials staff, (803) 777-7467.
