Daniel W. Hollis Acquisition & Preservation Endowment
To honor the life and work of Distinguished Professor Emeritus Daniel W. Hollis, teacher and historian of the University of South Carolina and former president of the University South Caroliniana Society, the Daniel W. Hollis Acquisition and Preservation Endowment has been established at the South Caroliniana Library as a bequest by Dr. Hollis. In his research, Dr. Hollis made extensive use of early historical records related to the University and the state and recognized the necessity for obtaining and preserving such historical and cultural records for future generations. His two-volume work, The History of the University of South Carolina, stands as a testament to the scholarly use of library holdings.

Proceeds from the Daniel W. Hollis Acquisition and Preservation Endowment will be used for the acquisition of books, pamphlets, manuscripts, and other materials related to South Carolina history and culture, as well as for the preservation of similar holdings in the Library that are in need of conservation. This dual goal will expand the collections of the Library while protecting historical records for future scholars.
