Scope and Contents Note
This collection is a growing compilation
of printed ephemera originally found in multiple HIV/AIDS collections that came
to the library at the same time, all primarily documenting HIV/AIDS in South
Carolina. Items such as complete books or other monographs have been cataloged
for the Irvin Department of Rare Books and Special Collections, but other, more
ephemeral items including clippings and a substantial collection of individual
magazines, journals, and other periodicals with HIV/AIDS-related content were
gathered here in this collection. Locally-produced or taped television programs
have been housed in this collection. Most commercially-produced videos have
been cataloged individually within the libraries' collections. Subjects range
from: children and HIV/AIDS, including some coloring books; pharmaceutical advertising
literature and offprints; government documents and pamphlets; non-governmental
organization publications and newsletters; and the AIDS Quilt and its travels
around the country.
