	Manuscript volume, 25 October 1859-12 March 1863, letterbook containing verbatim copies of outgoing business correspondence from John White of Abbeville, S.C. Letters discuss cotton sales, orders for household goods and provisions, and banking transactions. Others indicate that White executed deeds and sold cotton on behalf of Confederate soldiers, as referenced in his letter of 16 August 1862—“at the request of Mr. John Cromer who is in the Confederate army in Virginia I have sold his crop of cotton which he subscribed to the Confederate Government.” There is a gap in correspondence between 19 October 1861 and 14 April 1862.
