Written in 1910 by August Kohn

Kohn addressed the history of the development of water power in Columbia in Chapter XXXII, "The Columbia Canal." At the time, Kohn's associate, neighbor, and fellow book collector Benjamin Abney was the attorney for the Columbia Canal and the Columbia Electric Street Railway, Light and Power Company.

For further information on both of these men, please refer to articles on August Kohn and Benjamin Abney in this edition of Caroliniana Columns.
