Background
Accountant and award-winning amateur photographer, of Columbia, S.C.; Waites died in 1992. His wife, Virginia Draffin Waites, (b. 1917), collaborated with Waites on the research represented by this collection.

Scope and Content:
Consisting of genealogical information about various surnames (see below); and biographical information about Thomas and Virginia Waites, and various ancestors in the Waits/Waites and Draffin families.Two volumes include:
Tom Waites : The Perfect Husband, 1915-1992, with photocopies of wills, correspondence, awards, and photographs.
A Goodly Heritage : Our Waits Ancestors Beginning with John Waites (ca. 1743-1809), re genealogical information on related Baker, Ballentine, Bauknight, Coogler, LyBrand, and Mathias families, with an account of the Jacob Weaver heresy, ca. 1760s, at Zion Lutheran Church, on the Saluda River near Younginer's Ferry, S.C.
Collection also includes genealogical information on the Crockett, Fike, Koon, and LaCons families, in addition to those listed below.
