Background
Activist newspaper with offices in Columbia, but covering the entire state; began publishing in Mar. 1972, as monthly; became a weekly in July 1973, with over 7700 subscribers in 1978.

Scope and Content
The Osceola newspaper specialized in the coverage of significant social and political themes and events; collection reflects this mission, consisting primarily of reference material arranged topically, including clippings, reporters' notes, press releases, and brochures on subjects of interest.Collection also includes subscriber list, 1978; three cassette recordings of interviews; a story index; and undated questionnaires returned by subscribers giving household size, age, income, sex, race, comments, and time spent reading newspapers.
