Scope and Content
The records consist of office files of the SCEC contained in three series: Administrative, Topical, and Location files.Administrative files consist of bylaws, minutes, financial information, newsletters, papers, 1971-1973, of the Environmental Coalition of Columbia, the predecessor organization to the SCEC, and information on projects sponsored by the SCEC, usually designed to stimulate public participation and involvement in environmental planning.
Topical Files contain correspondence and reference material on topics including air and water quality, the exportation of coal and port development, Energy, Forestry, Hazardous Waste, and the S.C. Coastal Council.
Location files contain correspondence and reference materiel' on specific locations such as Congaree Swamp, the Richard B. Russell dam and others. For additional information see folder list below.
