Biographical Note:
Joseph Bryson represented South Carolina's 4th District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1939 until his death in 1953. A conservative Democrat, Bryson is perhaps best remembered for his unwavering opposition to alcohol. Prior public service included representation of Greenville County in the South Carolina House, 1921-1924, and Senate, 1928-1938.Papers, 1917-1953, 7 ft.
