Linking to Print Library Materials
Course-Related Content in Blackboard
For articles or book chapters not available electronically, contact the University Libraries Electronic Reserves. Library staff will address copyright concerns connected to posting these materials and scan library materials for you. Guidelines and the form are available from the Reserves Department.
Link to Library Catalog Searches
Copy the URL of the search (ex: http://libcat.csd.sc.edu/search/a?searchtype=d&searcharg=sublime&SORT=D&searchscope=1 ) or the specific record (ex. http://libcat.csd.sc.edu/search?/Yrecords+and+ante+bellum&searchscope
=1&SORT=DZ/Yrecords+and+ante+bellum&searchscope=1&SORT=DZ&extended=0&SUBKEY
=records%20and%20ante%20bellum/1%2C59%2C59%2CB/frameset&FF=Yrecords+and+ante
+bellum&searchscope=1&SORT=DZ&2%2C2%2C).
Linking to Electronic Resources
Add links to journal indexes, full-text resources, and other library databases:
To link to a specific database, use a specially formulated URL to provide reliable access both on and off campus. To determine the unique URL for a particular resource:
- Start at the University Libraries' Electronic Resources page
- Use the Subject categories or Alphabetical list to find the resource you need
- Right click on the name of the specific resource. Depending on your browser select
- "Copy Shortcut" or "Copy Link Location"
- Copy and paste the URL into your own page
Add links to an entire full-text electronic journal:
Link to the University Libraries' E-Journals search site using this URL https://pallas2.tcl.sc.edu/login?url=http://www.tdnet.com/scg/.
Students can type in the journal title they need and find where this journal is available online through the Libraries' subscriptions.
Add links to specific articles or article abstracts/citations:
Already have the citation? Search the University Libraries' E-Journals to see if it is available electronically unless it is freely available on the web.
Want to identify possible articles to use with a class? Begin by searching a database through the University Libraries' Electronic Resources page.
Once you've found what you want to link to your next steps depend on the database or index.
