	Use only if you have Cable or DSL connections: Please follow the directions below to setup Internet Explorer up for the proxy server.  You must follow the directions below carefully in order to use the libraries electronic resources. If you have problems with this connection please call Alma Creighton at 777-2389 or email: almac@mailbox.sc.edu Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6 1. From the menu bar select Tools then choose "Internet Options" from the pull down menu. 2. Select the "Connections" tab. Then click on the "Lan Settings..." button. 3. Select (click in the square box) "Use automatic configuration script" and type in the following URL: http://proxy.tcl.sc.edu:8080/tcl.sc.edu.pac **The address that is typed above is: http://proxy.tcl.sc.edu:8080/tcl.sc.edu.pac** You are now ready to use the proxy server.  Using this browser configuration go back to the Electronic Indexes (http://www.sc.edu/library/ei.html) and select a database from the list of Off Campus Access databases for the Columbia campus. Be sure to use your 9 digit USC ID as your userid and your last name as your password to authenticate to the server.
