Handicapped Parking
Handicapped parking is available on the east side (Russell House side) of Thomas Cooper Library. Directions to handicapped parking.

University of South Carolina permits are required to park in campus handicap spaces. USC handicap parking permits are available to students, faculty and staff of the University and are valid on University property only. Parking in handicap spaces on the city street requires a hang tag or handicap license tag issued by the Highway Department. USC permits are not valid in City handicap spaces.

Disability Access Door (Thomas Cooper Library)
Patrons who are unable to use the main doors can enter Thomas Cooper Library through the Disabilities Services entrance located on the east side by the handicapped parking area.  This entrance goes to level 5. 

Government Information & Microforms Department (Level 5) staff provide service to the disability access door until 10:45 PM Sunday through Thursday and until 5:45 PM Friday and Saturday. During intersessions, access is provided up to 15 minutes prior the building's close. For additional access the patron should contact the Thomas Cooper Library's Circulation Department, (803) 777-3145.

Book Retrieval
Patrons who need help retrieving materials or using a photocopier can go to a circulation desk for assistance or contact Thomas Cooper Library Circulation by calling 803-777-3145 or sending an email message to

Paging Have materials pulled from the shelves of Thomas Cooper Library and held for you at the Circulation Desk.

Scan and Deliver Have articles from the Thomas Cooper Library stacks delivered directly to your desktop.
