University Libraries

Disability Access

Thomas Cooper Library provides accessible parking and entrance to the building along with assistance in accessing the collections. Visitors who are not currently affiliated with the university should review the Visitor and Alumni Services before visiting the library.

Accessible Parking

Accessible parking is available on the east side (Russell House side) of Thomas Cooper Library. University of South Carolina disability permits, which are available through Parking and Transportation Services, are required to park in accessible spaces on the university campus. Disability permits are available to students, faculty and staff of the university and are valid on university property only. Parking in accessible spaces on a city street requires a hang tag or license tag issued by the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. USC permits are not valid in the City of Columbia's accessible spaces.

Disability Access Door

Visitors who are unable to use the main entrance can enter Thomas Cooper Library through the Disabilities Services entrance located on the east side by the accessible parking area. This entrance goes to Level 5.

Hours of Service

The Disability Access Door is available up to 15 minutes prior to building's closing. Check building hours for more information.
