League of Women Voters of South Carolina
The League of Women Voters of South Carolina has played a critical role in improving public policy in our local communities, the state and the nation. The archives of the League and papers of League-leaders are important resources that document the active, progressive involvement of generations of women in public life. The collection descriptions may be viewed from the SCPC website.
Sarah Leverette joined the League of Women Voters in 1957 and continues to serve as a staunch voice for good government. She is a 1943 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law and served as Law Librarian from 1947-1972. After retirement from USC, she served on the Workman’s Compensation Commission and South Carolina’s Committee to Revise the Constitution. Well into her 90s, she remains active in the League and her community.
