Only currently enrolled USC students, faculty, and staff may use the technology lounge. The Cooper Technology Lounge reserves the right to check for valid University identification.
Save all work to the My Documents folder. Documents opened in email will have all changes lost when the web browser is closed.
Absolutely no pornography or material of pornographic nature.
All computers are reserved for class work. During times of high lab usage, no chat rooms, ICQ, or online games will be allowed.
No food, drinks, or smoking in the lab area.
No children are to be left unattended in the lab.
The noise level is to be kept to a minimum. Cellular phones are not allowed. Please use them outside of the lab.
** Any violation of these policies will result in your expulsion from the lab, and a possible loss of usage privileges.
Laptop Loan Policies
Each semester, borrowers must read the laptop contract form and sign to indicate that they understand their responsibility for the laptops.
Borrowers must be current students, faculty or staff and present a valid picture ID at check out.
Laptops cannot be removed from the library.
Laptops are checked out in 4-hour intervals, and they must be returned one hour before the lab closes.
Laptops are available on a first-come first-served basis, and renewals are permitted provided no one else is waiting to use the equipment.
Borrowers may check out one laptop at a time.
Borrowers should inspect the laptops at check out and are responsible for any damage or loss that occurs while the laptops are in their possession.
Laptops must be borrowed from and returned to the Cooper Technology Lounge Desk.
Laptops cannot be left unattended, and the borrower’s privileges will be revoked if found.
Overdue fines of $1.00 per hour will be charged to the borrower’s account if the equipment is not returned on time.
The Thomas Cooper Library is not responsible for any loss of data while using the laptops.
The wireless network is available on all floors in the library.
Print jobs can be retrieved from any library printer on any floor. (10¢ black & white and 25¢ color)
Borrowers agree not to copy any software from the hard disk to any other storage medium or other machine. They also agree not to alter the software, make changes to the laptops or install other software. Theft or misuse of the laptops, including hardware and software contents will result in prosecution to the full extent of the law.
Borrowers agree to abide by the Cooper Technology Lounge Policies from the Web site (http://www.sc.edu/library/labpol.html) and the Student Guidelines for Responsible Computing from the Web site (http://www.uts.sc.edu/Policies/Responsible.shtml), as well as all applicable federal and state laws, when using the laptops.
