About the Department

The Research, Instruction and Reference department is the main information center for Thomas Cooper Library.  Our department’s primary function is to teach and promote the most effective methods of using the resources available to USC students, faculty, and staff.  If you have questions about how to find information or materials, please visit the Reference desk or select any of the options listed on the Research Resources page.

Moore, Morgan

Morgan Moore obtained a BA in Media Arts with a dual minor in Theatre and English from the University of South Carolina in May of 2013.  Morgan joined the Department of Research, Instruction, and Reference in May of 2014.  She is the instructional designer for the LIBR 101 online courses.  She is responsible for managing and maintaining the video lectures for the course, as well as, recording new lectures when needed.

Snediker, Kathy

Kathy has worked for University Libraries at the University of South Carolina in a variety of roles since she arrived in Columbia in 2005. Starting as a library assistant for the Coleman Karesh Law Library, she moved on to a part-time position in Reference at Thomas Cooper Library. Prior to joining USC as a full-time faculty member in 2011, she served as the Associate Director of Library and Instructional Technology Services at Newberry College. Before beginning her career as an academic librarian, Kathy worked in corporate environments as an operations manager and sales team leader. As the Interim Head of the Springs Library, she uses her combined experience in business, library research, and instruction to support the students and faculty of the Darla Moore School of Business.

Turner, Jack

Jack Turner has been the Coordinator of the LIBR 101 Online program since September of 2012, having previously served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the Unvieristy of South Carolina. Dr. Turner responsibilities include management of LIBR 101 instructors and providing student service support for the LIBR 101 course. In addition, he teaches several sections of the course online each semester.  Dr. Turner received his BA and MA in Religious Studies from USC and his Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Wales in 2011.

Stacy serves as liaison to the Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Earth and Ocean Sciences, Statistics, Physics and Astronomy, and to the College of Engineering and Computer Science.  She received an M.L.I.S. from the University of South Carolina and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Clemson University.
