    Access over 6,000 news, business, and legal sources. These include regional, national, and international newspapers, news wires, broadcast transcripts, non-English language news sources, magazines, trade journals, business publications, SEC filings, law reviews, statutory, administrative and case law.

  • Hoover's Online

    Brief company descriptions and financials for over 10,000 companies and approximately 4,000 company profiles (company histories, strategies, market positions, major events, and other information) plus industry information.

  • Factiva

    Access to global news and business information, including local newspapers, same-day newswires, company reports, and media programs.  Some content is unavailable to academic accounts.

  • AccessUN

    Index to United Nations documents including Official Records, draft resolutions, and UN Treaty Series citations from 1966 to the present.  Includes full text of UN Resolutions from the General Assembly (1981-present), the Security Council (1974-present) and the Economic and Social Council (1982-present).

  • American FactFinder - U.S. Census

    Contains population, housing, economic and geographic data. Also allows creation of reference and thematic maps.

  • Business Abstracts with Full Text

    Covers hundreds of international English-language business magazines and journals.

  • Business Monitor International

    Provides country risk; industry analysis and forecasts; and company information. Get detailed information on a country along with reports and data on industries and the economy.   Provides profiles of leading companies within the industry. 

  • CCH IntelliConnect

    New users register using “Click this link to create a User ID."  Once registered, use email address and password to log in on the CCH IntelliConnect Research page.

    IntelliConnect is the Commerce Clearing House platform which provides a single point of access to 48 databases in the following practice groups: Health Care & Benefits; Tax & Accounting; Business Compliance; Financial Services; and Legal Professionals.

  • Checkpoint

    A database containing financial accounting, tax, audit, and corporate governance resources.

    Note: Some modules have limited concurrent users. Please exit a standard when not in use and logout of Checkpoint when you are finished.

    Tax content includes: IRS Tax Code, Regulations, Rulings, and Practice Aids; International, Federal, State, and Local Tax Libraries; Payroll Library with employment laws and regulations; Federal tax cases; State Citator and more.

    Financial and Audit content includes: AICPA, PCAOB, and SEC Libraries; authoritative standards from IASB, FASB (Codification and pre-Codification standards), COSO, AICPA, GASB, and PCAOB; and related guides and technical practice aids.

    Corporate governance content includes: Sarbanes-Oxley Reporter and cases; interactive checklists for internal controls and risk assessment; and related guides and interpretations.

  • Corporate Affiliations Online

    Directory of public, private, American and foreign companies. Provides information about the parent companies and their worldwide divisions and subsidiaries. This resource was acquired by University Libraries thanks to the Wells Fargo Business Library Endowment.

  • EconLit

    Covers the literature of economics from books, journals, and working papers.

  • eStatement Studies (eSS) from RMA

    The online version of Annual Statement Studies is useful for comparing company performance within an industry, as well as for business valuations and benchmarking for business plans. The newly expanded content contains data to assess probability of default and critical analysis of cash flow. Data is derived directly from the financial statements of RMA member companies and is updated annually in November. Contains two publications:
     
    Financial Ratio Benchmarks
    •         Nineteen classic financial statement ratios for over 800 industries
    •         Common-size balance sheet and income statement
    •         Trend data available on the history tabs
     
    Industry Default Probabilities & Cash Flow Measures
    •         Data arrayed by asset and sales size for over 700 industries
    •         Probability of default estimates on a percentage scale, mapped to a .EDF bond rating scale
    •         Cash flow measures on a common-size percentage scale
     
    The online version allows for data aggregation on both the national and regional levels, and searching for industries may be by name or by NAICS code. Data may be downloaded into Excel, and the Client Comparison Worksheet is an available Excel tool that helps compare your financial data with the benchmarking data from eSS.

  • Historical Statistics of the United States: Millennial Edition Online

    Standard source for data on all aspects of American history.  Search and downloading options.

  • IBISWorld

    IBISWorld Industry Market Research Reports cover the structure of each industry (e.g., barriers to entry, levels of government assistance, import penetration); statistics; external sensitivities (typically macroeconomic and demographic factors that are out of the control of companies within each industry); and success factors (those factors such as vertical integration that are controllable by companies). 

  • IMF Statistics [International Monetary Fund]

    Dtasets from the International Monetary Fund include:

    • International Financial Statistics (IFS)—all aspects of international and domestic finance beginning in 1948
    • Balance of Payment Statistics (BOPS)—  international economic transactions data and International Investment Position, with history to 1960
    • Direction of Trade Statistics (DOTS)—value of exports and imports between countries and their trading partners, with history to 1980
    • Government Finance Statistics (GFS)—budgetary and extra-budgetary financial operations data of governments, with history to 1990
  • Import Genius

    Provides global trade data, including imports into the United States and visual mapping of trade relations. Data points on imports include port, vessel, bill of lading, containers, carrier, codes, gross weight, and much more. Export data is available for some Latin American countries, including difficult-to-find pricing information like insurance and shipping for some exports. Data points are easily exported to Excel. 
         Import Genius may also be used to analyze a company’s supply chain. The visual mapping tool allows easy identification of a company’s key suppliers, as well as other companies buying from those same suppliers.
         University of South Carolina students and faculty get free access to Import Genius. However, it requires registration with your USC email account.

  • Mergent Archives - Historical Annual Reports

    This database contains over 500,000 annual reports (1800s - present) covering international and domestic companies.  Search reports by company name, year, and location.  Fully searchable text in every document.  Continuously updates.

  • Mergent Online

    Mergent provides global business and financial information. The database includes current and archival U.S. Company data, international data, full text annual reports, SEC filings and historical stock prices. Also includes executive biographies, competitive landscape data, global industry profiles, and equity research reports.

  • Mergent WebReports

    Provides access to 180,000 documents for over 100 countries and industries. Corporate Reports include annual reports, prospectuses, financial statements, annual summaries and more on over 30,000 companies worldwide. The Industry Reports section contains reports that describe the market environment, industry landscape and key market trends for companies, industries, countries and regions.

  • Mintel

    Mintel offers market research reports covering US and International marketplaces. Each report combines data & analysis of the competitive landscape, market-share analysis and consumer profiles. Complex demographic issues are broken into easy-to-understand sections, explaining consumer behavior and demonstrating the structure of the market.

    Also includes Travel and Tourism reports for countries worldwide.

  • National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER)

    Full-text access to all National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) working papers.

  • OECD iLibrary [Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development] 1997-2013

    The online library of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. We have access to content from 1997-2013 only unless current title is open access.  Best known for its publications and its statistics, the OECD’s work covers economic and social issues from macroeconomics, to trade, education, development, science and innovation.

  • Passport

    Passport provides business intelligence on industries, market data & forecasts, and consumer lifestyles, as well as analysis of the economy, infrastructure, and business environment in over 200 countries. It also contains B2B (business-to-business) market data on the world’s 18 largest economies, splitting each into 177 industries.

     Use Passport to obtain historic and forecasted market sizes, distribution channel analysis, company and brand share data, company profiles, and country analysis.

    You will need to first accept the terms and conditions of use.

  • PrivCo

    Business and financial data on major, non-publicly traded corporations, including family-owned, private equity-owned, venture-backed, and international unlisted companies. Use PrivCo to find information on private investors, private M&A deals, and venture capital funding rounds. The advanced search feature allows you to identify companies and investors by industry, size, location, and more, and information can be exported to Excel.

    Requires registration with a USC email address.

    Find both U.S. and international advertisers, advertising agencies, public relations firms, and media buying services.

    When you finish searching, do not just close the window, click SIGN-OFF, otherwise you stay logged in for 30 minutes.

The Excel Add-In feature  includes pre-formatted templates for data analysis.

    To search for Investext analysts reports:  First choose the Research option from menu choices on left side of the page. This will display the most recent Investext reports for the selected company. To perform a search within Investext., use the Advanced Research Page link found upper right hand corner of the Research webpage.  This will allow you to search for reports by company, industry, country or keyword.

    Includes the Census of Population and Housing, Economic Census, Census of Governments and other Census Bureau surveys, data and publications.

  • USA Trade Online

    U.S. export and import statistics for more than 18,000 commodities. Annual, year-to-date and monthly statistics by quantity and value. Reports include: trade by commodity, commodity market ranking, commodity profile, commodity time series and country by commodity. Create an account for access.

  • World Bank Data - World Development Indicators Online

    World Bank Group now provides free, open, and easy access to its comprehensive set of data on living standards around the globe—some 2,000 indicators, including hundreds that go back 50 years— through its new data portal.
