    Incorporates the fundamentals of life, engineering, mathematical, and information sciences with the methodologies and systems of biomedical engineering.

  • Web of Science

    Indexes thousands of the most prestigious, high impact research journals in the world. Also has cited reference searching and ways to refine and analyze your search results. Includes three indexes: Arts & Humanities Citation Index (1975 to present), Social Sciences Citation Index (1900 to present), Science Citation Index Expanded (1899 to present). 

    Note:  Previously our subscription began social sciences coverage in 1956. Coverage now extends back to 1900 in the social sciences.

    Not all titles listed by this provider are available to the USC-Columbia campus. USC users can access the full text of only those journals to which the USC Libraries subscribe.     This interdisciplinary database offers abstracts and citations to a wide range of research in biomedicine, biotechnology, zoology and ecology, and some aspects of agriculture and veterinary science.

    BioMed Central is both a searchable bibliographic database and an independent publishing house committed to providing immediate free access to peer-reviewed biomedical research. 

  • BIOSIS Citation Index, 1926 to present

    Comprehensive coverage (1926-present) of international life science journal and meeting literature including references found in Biological Abstracts.

  • Conference Papers Index

    Conference Papers provides citations to papers and poster sessions presented at major scientific meetings around the world. Subject emphasis since 1995 has been in the life sciences, environmental sciences and the aquatic sciences, while older material also covers physics, engineering and materials science.

  • Conference Proceedings Citation Index

    Provides access to the published literature from the most significant conferences, symposia, seminars, colloquia, workshops, and conventions worldwide.  Coverage begins in 1990 to the present.

  • CRC Handbook of Chemistry & Physics

  • Dissertations and Theses

    Contains citations,abstracts and possibly full text for over 2 million dissertations and theses. The database accepts over 90 percent of doctoral dissertations in North America.

    This freely accessible research database focuses on the relationship between human beings and the environment.

  • IEEE Xplore

    Major database for electrical engineering and computer science literature, featuring high-quality content from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Our subscription does not include fulltext access to everything in the database, but to content from IEEE journals, transactions, and magazines published since 1998.

    Searching for federally funded bibliographic science and technology research information is free on the basic Public Access NTRL website.  For US domestic users, after registering and accepting the "Terms and Conditions of Use" of NTRL you will be able to access the full text PDFs.

  • Oxford Reference

    Fully-indexed, cross-searchable database of over 100 dictionary, language reference, and subject reference works published by Oxford University Press.

  • ScienceDirect

    Only those journals to which USC-Columbia subscribes are available full text. Strongest coverage in the sciences, but includes some business, humanities and social science journals.

  • SciFinder Web *Registration Required*

    Provides access to the full Chemical Abstracts database with citations to the literature of chemistry and patents, as well as compound information including structure, chemical names, formulas, Registry Numbers and reaction information for organic and organometallic reactions - plus substructure and reaction searching.
