    Brings together biographies, rare books, and historical information on thousands of African-Americans. From 1790-1950.

  • American National Biography

    Information on the lives of over 19,000 people from all eras who have influenced and shaped American history and culture. Ranges in time from the earliest recorded European explorations to the very recent past. 

  • Black Thought and Culture

    Includes full-text of non-fiction published works of leading African Americans and access to interviews, journal articles, and other material of 20th century topics, including politics, religion, history and sports.

  • Bloom's Literary Reference Online

    Biographies of writers, overviews of works, and information on characters and literary themes and movements.  Also includes videos of select theater performances.  Besides keyword you can search by author, author’s nationality, range of birth and death dates, type of writer, genre, or range of publication date.

  • Gale Virtual Reference Library

    Searchable collection of reference books and encyclopedias in electronic format. Titles cover arts, biography, business, environment, history, literature, medicine, multicultural studies, science, and social science.

  • Irish Women Poets of the Romantic Period

    Irish Women Poets of the Romantic Period includes more than 80 volumes of poetry by approximately 50 Irish women writing between 1768 and 1842. The database also offers numerous biographical and critical essays prepared by leading scholars specifically for the project.

  • Scottish Women Poets of the Romantic Period

    Includes volumes of Romantic poetry composed by Scottish women, as well as extensive contemporary critical reviews and numerous scholarly essays specially commissioned for the project.

  • Something About the Author Online

    Includes detailed biographies and autobiographies of authors and illustrators for children and young adults. Provides comprehensive online access to all volumes of the Something About the Author series, from 1971 to present.
