    Does not include impact factors but you can find acceptance rates, manuscript guidelines, and review process information for journals.  Search by topic areas, words in journal name, acceptance rate, type of review process, or publisher.  Directories for the fields of:

    Conference Papers provides citations to papers and poster sessions presented at major scientific meetings around the world. Subject emphasis since 1995 has been in the life sciences, environmental sciences and the aquatic sciences, while older material also covers physics, engineering and materials science.

  • Dissertations and Theses

    Contains citations,abstracts and possibly full text for over 2 million dissertations and theses. The database accepts over 90 percent of doctoral dissertations in North America.

  • Engineering Village

    The Engineering Village platform provides access to Compendex, the comprehensive database for Engineering research, and Inspec, the premier database for physics and related areas.

  • Gartner (via VIP)

    The University of South Carolina has a site license with Gartner which provides access for Students, Faculty and Staff to IT research, consulting and event information. Gartner is known for its comprehensive body of global research that reports on and analyzes the technologies that drive business and organizational success. 

    To access Gartner, login to VIP and click on the Technology link.

  • Google Scholar

    Google Chrome browser won't work for wireless and off campus access.  Chrome also does not display USC Columbia e-text options for times cited by Web of Science.

    Enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature.  To access the full-text to which the University Libraries subscribes from Google Scholar
    - Select Settings
    - Click Library Links then enter University of South Carolina
    - Select University of South Carolina Columbia-USC Columbia eText
    - Select University of South Carolina School of Medicine–Find Fulltext@USC Med
    - Click Save

    Fully-indexed, cross-searchable database of over 100 dictionary, language reference, and subject reference works published by Oxford University Press.

  • ScienceDirect

    Only those journals to which USC-Columbia subscribes are available full text. Strongest coverage in the sciences, but includes some business, humanities and social science journals.

  • SIAM Electronic Journals

    Only those Society for Industrial & Applied Mathematics  journals to which USC-Columbia subscribes are available full text.

  • Web of Science

    Indexes thousands of the most prestigious, high impact research journals in the world. Also has cited reference searching and ways to refine and analyze your search results. Includes three indexes: Arts & Humanities Citation Index (1975 to present), Social Sciences Citation Index (1956 to present), Science Citation Index Expanded (1899 to present).
