Braddock, Brittany
Post Production Specialist

Moving Image Research Collections

 A Columbia, SC native, Brittany earned her BA in Media Arts, with a focus in film, from the University of South Carolina in 2011. She currently supports a software-development project funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities by creating high definition scans of optical soundtracks. Brittany works with the nitrate film collections here at MIRC and enjoys handling the decades-old 35mm films that she guides through the Kinetta film scanner with great patience and skill.

Fanning, Ryan
Post Production Assistant

Ryan Fanning is currently an undergraduate student at the University of South Carolina, majoring in Religious Studies. She was previously employed as the Stack Manager for the Irvin Department of Rare Books and Special Collections at the Thomas Cooper Library. Before her employment as Stack Manager, she spent two years at MIRC as a student worker while in the Media Arts program at the university. Ryan is glad to be back at MIRC, helping in the Telecine Room, transferring film, and digitizing video for various clients and university faculty.

Harman, Asia
Cataloging Manager

Moving Image Research Collections

Asia comes from Indiana University in Bloomington, where she earned her BFA in Photography and Master of Library Science. During her time at IU she was an Assistant Film Archivist at the IU Libraries Moving Image Archive where she worked with 16mm educational films and helped start a local monthly film screening. She also worked as a Media Preservation Assistant with the Media Digitization and Preservation Initiative. She currently creates records to ensure that collections are findable for researchers and users alike.

Lucas, Vanessa
Cataloging Assistant

Moving Image Research Collections

Vanessa is a MLIS Candidate at the University of South Carolina with a focus in special libraries and an interest in technical services. She received her B.A in English from the University of South Carolina in 2006. As for hobbies, she enjoys riding her bicycle and practicing yoga, but film is one of her life's earlier passions.  At MIRC, she is a cataloging assistant working with the Fox Movietone collection.

Wei, Ran
Cataloguer, Chinese Film Collection

Moving Image Research Collections

Ran Wei is the Cataloguer for the Chinese Film Collection and came to MIRC from Beijing, with help from the Confucius Institute, where she also works. Ran is from China and is a graduate student of the Beijing Film Academy. She is working on the Chinese Film Collections at MIRC, cataloguing the many films that need describing in fuller detail. Ran enjoys the many documentaries about her homeland and has even found interesting films about her hometown. Peaceful life and fulfilling work here make her feel delighted every day!
