An event honoring the life of attorney and civil rights and labor activist John Bolt Culbertson (1908-1983) will be held on Tuesday, August 28, at 4:30 p.m. in the Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library. The event also marks the opening of Culbertson’s papers, which are held by South Carolina Political Collections (SCPC). Among those making remarks will be Dr. Thomas Terrill, Distinguished Professor of History emeritus, and Dorothy Walker, associate director of SCPC. A reception will follow.

Materials from the collection are currently on display in the Hollings Library’s SCPC Gallery, and a small additional exhibit will be mounted in the library of the USC School of Law. Both will remain on display until September 1.
