Emily Doyle began work as a business librarian at the Springs Business Library on Monday, April 16, 2012. Emily is a native of Heflin, Alabama; however, her most recent residences have been in Boston, Mass., and Washington, D.C. Emily has an MLIS and a Certificate in Advanced Study in Digital Libraries from Syracuse University. Emily’s masters of accountancy as well as her bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Animal Science are from Auburn University. She also has a Federal Acquisition Regulations Certificate.
Emily gained experience in library science while working in Lauinger Library’s Special Collections Research Center at Georgetown University; in the World Bank’s Library and Archives of Development; as a regional manager for Opinion Archives in Boston and at The MIT Press. She worked in accounting and finance for Fathom Creative, Inc.; IFES, Inc.; Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, LLP; and she taught accounting and finance at Shaw High School in Georgia. She volunteered at the Library of Congress, the Sachabu Care Foundation in Accra and Akatsi, Ghana and at the Cornerstone Schools of Washington, DC.
Although Emily enjoyed her extensive travel in Africa and the Middle East with her accounting jobs, she is glad to be back in the South where she has been reunited with two of her dogs. Emily has a private pilot’s license and she is CPR/First Aid certified. Reading and cooking are two of her favorite pastimes, but she also looks forward to spending time with her four dogs.
We welcome Emily and look forward to working with her.
