WOW! We've been busy!

Aug 26, 2011

Thomas Cooper Library folks have been busy this summer.   We want our students to have a great place to do research and to study.   We decided the time was right for action.   The old clocks were replaced with new clocks that work!   The old drinking fountains were replaced with new shiny drinking fountains.  The public address system was replaced with a PA system that can be heard loud and clear throughout the building.   You will quickly notice that new furniture is being installed in the back of the Mezzanine Level. It matches the popular furniture on the balcony of the Mezzanine.

The Reference Desk is in a new location positioned to help students and others as soon as they come into the building.   A swipe card system has been installed to ensure better security for our late night hours during 24/7.   All of the public printers have been replaced with new printers, and more Macs have been distributed around the main level.  A new Carolina Cash Automatic Deposit Machine (ADM) will soon replace the old machine, and it will be conveniently located by the printers on the main level.

And don’t forget last year’s improvements:  lockers across from Coopers Corner, 40 renovated group study rooms, new technology enhanced group study rooms, new furniture on the balcony, soft seating in the lobby, a group film-viewing room, longer circulation hours, 24/7 computer lab hours, new benches on the patio and the Hollings Special Collections Library.    Keep your ideas and suggestions coming to us.  We are interested in your opinions and we do respond.
