Kutka Named New Head of the Business Library

Jul 6, 2011 8:57 AM

Cynthia Flack Kutka has been named as the new head of the Elliott White Springs Business Library at the University of South Carolina.   In this role, Cynthia will oversee reference, instruction, collection development and related services for the Business Library.  After 14 years of working in the private sector, Cynthia is returning to her first love – academic librarianship.   After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, Cynthia worked for nine years at the University of Georgia Science Library as a reference associate.  Cynthia also worked for the Walker Library at the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University as a business librarian.

In addition to her academic jobs, Cynthia worked as a corporate researcher for six private companies.   These jobs provided her with experience in competitive intelligence, business and market research, domestic and international collaboration, intellectual property rights as well as legal business consultation and research analysis.

Cynthia received her Master of Library and Information Science and her Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver, Colorado.  She completed her thesis Knowledge Management and Client Relationship Management in Law Firms—Benchmarking Research and Case Study in 2005.

Cynthia was born and raised in the Washington D.C. area as a child, but she considers Georgia to be her "adopted" home state, having lived there longer than anywhere else. She lived and studied in the Philippines, and she has traveled extensively.  We are pleased to welcome Cynthia Kutka to University Libraries.
