The architectural firm responsible for designing the Hollings Library was honored on May 3 when the Historic Columbia Foundation presented its 2011 Preservation Awards. The architects for the project, Watson Tate Savory Liollio, and the contractor, Gilbane Building Company, were recognized for “New Construction in an Historic Context.”
When considering projects for the award, the Historic Columbia Foundation looks at local preservation projects that “epitomize efforts to maintain and add to the historically, architecturally and culturally significant buildings, neighborhoods and landscapes within the city and Richland County.”
Other projects recognized this year include The Township Auditorium and Trinity Cathedral. The awards are given annually during Preservation Month.
