In celebration of Congress Week, SCPC is inaugurating its Politics on Film Festival. On September 15, SCPC begins its free film festival with a screening of the classic 1939 Jimmy Stewart film, "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington." The monthly event will offer a free screening of a film relating to government and politics, with an introduction to the film, free pizza and soda for the first 25 guests, and discussion after the film’s conclusion. The screenings begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Hollings Library. Subsequent films will be shown the third Wednesday of October, November, January, February, and March. Food is allowed in the Library for this event only. Subsequent films will include the 1988 Ken Burns documentary, "The Congress," and the film "Advise and Consent" (1962).
