CTE Workshop: Using Facebook to Enhance Teaching and Learning, 12-20-2:30

Center for Teaching Excellence, Thomas Cooper Library, Room 511
Oct 6, 2009
Facebook is a social networking Web site in which “friends” can share information with each other, update their personal profiles, and upload photos or use it more as an “email-like” connection. So, how can you use it in your classes to connect with students? Join us for a two-part event that begins with a presentation by Dr. Wally Peters, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and recipient of the Amoco Teaching Award. Starting at 12:20, Dr. Peters will discuss how he uses Facebook to interact with his students. He will describe uses of Facebook that support his personal teaching philosophy, and offer tips for using it as a teaching tool. At 1:30, the venue will move to the Thomas Cooper Library Multimedia Room 1 for a hands-on workshop. This workshop will provide you the opportunity to set up your own Facebook groups for your class. We will also discuss how to effectively run class groups and other ideas for using Facebook in the classroom. Bring your ideas to share. More information
