An Afternoon at Hopswee Plantation

Dr. Robert Ackerman, president of the University South Caroliniana Society, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Beattie of Hopsewee Plantation and the staff of the South Caroliniana Library cordially invite you to an afternoon at Hopsewee Plantation on Thursday, April 30, from 4-7 p.m. Please enjoy a reception and tour of the grounds of this historic, Colonial-era home, built circa 1740. The birthplace of Thomas Lynch, Jr., a signer of the Declaration of Independence, Hopsewee is S.C.'s first national historic landmark. Located off Highway 17, Hopsewee's address is 494 Hopsewee Road. The plantation is approx. 12 miles south of Georgetown and 10 miles north of McClellanville. Directions to Hopsewee can be found at www.hopsewee.com.
