Banking on South Carolina: Cash, Credit, and Communities
At the most basic level, banks facilitate the lending and borrowing of money which allows individuals and businesses to grow and be successful, cultivating innovation and growth. South Carolina's banking industry has a rich history which touches every sector and citizen in the Palmetto State.
In partnership with the South Caroliniana Library, South Carolina Political Collections presents Banking on South Carolina: Cash, Credit, and Community, on display through December 2017.
The exhibit features the papers of civil rights activist and one of the founders of the Victory Savings Bank (1921), Modjeska Simkins (1899-1992), and Lloyd I. Hendricks (1942-), former President of the South Carolina Bankers Association.
“Banking on South Carolina: Cash, Credit, and Communities” will be on display in the Brittain Gallery (Hollings Library, Main Floor) Nov 1 – Dec 31.
