A new online exhibit highlights the work of Dr. Hilla Sheriff (1903-1988), one of very few female physicians in South Carolina in the early twentieth century, Dr. Sheriff was a pioneer in implementing public health services in the state. Her innovative programs garnered national attention and served as models for other Southern states. The exhibit draws from the Hilla Sheriff Papers at the South Caroliniana Library.
