Open Gallery: Dr. Walter Edgar to speak about new Pat Conroy exhibit

The Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library Galleries will be open to the public 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015. There is no charge to attend.

The Open Gallery event will feature exhibits from South Carolina Political Collections and the Irvin Department of Rare Books and Special Collections, including "Nuclear Carolina: Power and Waste in the Palmetto State" and "Pat Conroy: A Retrospective."

At noon, Dr. Walter Edgar, Professor Emeritus at the University of South Carolina, shown at right, will give a gallery talk relating to the Irvin Department's new Conroy exhibit. Dr. Edgar, shown in photo at right, is a South Carolina historian; host of ETV Radio's Walter Edgar's Journal and South Carolina A - Z; and author of several books, including South Carolina: A History and The South Carolina Encyclopedia. He recently edited and provided the introduction for Conversations with the Conroys: Interviews with Pat Conroy and His Family.
