Seventy new single-stream trash and recycling containers have been installed in Thomas Cooper Library.
The containers — with one side marked "Recycle" for disposal of items that can be recycled, the other side marked "Landfill" for trash — are part of a pilot project to see if containers that offer one-stop disposal can be more effective at keeping recyclables out of landfills.
The new containers accept:
Mixed paper, plastic and aluminum in the "Recycle" side
Other items that cannot be recycled in the "Landfill" side
The project is being spearheaded by the USC Department of Facilities.
