The Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library will be open 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 for a special showing of exhibits and two gallery talks related to the newest exhibit in the Hollings Library. "Weird Science: A History of Human Knowledge," sponsored by the Ann Johnson Institute for Science, Technology & Society, and the University Libraries' Irvin Department of Rare Books and Special Collections, is a major exhibit that traces the history of science with an emphasis on the odd, the unique and the wonderful.

At 11:30 a.m., Irvin Department Reference and Instruction Librarian Michael Weisenburg will present "This Glorious Machine: Illustrating Technology from the Early Modern Period to the Present." Weisenburg is a co-curator of the exhibit.

At 12:30 p.m., Irvin Department Curator Jeanne Britton will present "The Science and Culture of Frankenstein." Britton is a co-curator of the exhibit.
