Open Gallery at Hollings LibraryHollings Main, Rare Books and Special Collections’ Exhibit Gallery

The Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library will open for special hours Saturday, April 29. The Open Gallery will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free and open to the public. At noon, archivist Jessica Crouch will give a gallery talk. She is working with the recently acquired Ron Rash Collection, housed in the Irvin Department of Rare Books and Special Collections.
Exhibits on display during this Open Gallery include:
- -- "The Ron Rash Collection," featuring the papers of the award-winning, South Carolina-born poet, short story writer and novelist. In the Irvin Department of Rare Books and Special Collections Gallery
- -- “It Is So Ordered: Judges and the Law in South Carolina,” highlights the collections of Federal and SC Supreme Court Judges held by South Carolina Political Collections. In the South Carolina Political Collections Gallery
- -- "Pondering Poe," featuring the first magazine appearances of some of Poe's tales, poems and criticism. Also on view are first editions of Poe's fiction, posthumous and illustrated editions, as well as later adaptations of Poe's work, as found in the Irvin Department of Rare Books and Special Collections. The Hollings Library hosts special Open Galleries on Saturdays throughout the year. The library's normal hours are 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday. It is accessed through the Thomas Cooper Library, located at 1322 Greene St., Columbia SC 29208.
