Biography

Roger Pemberton is Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of South Carolina. Roger is an internationally renowned saxophonist and woodwind specialist, conductor, arranger, and recording artist. 

He is a graduate of Indiana University where he earned a master of Music of Music in woodwinds and was the first instructor of saxophone and jazz composition. 

He was one of the arrangers and musicians for the Merv Griffin Show, was recently inducted into the South Carolina State University Jazz Hall of Fame, awarded honorary Doctor of Music degrees from Newberry College and the University of Evansville (IN), and still serves as clinician/soloist for United Musical Instruments of Elkhart, Indiana. 

He has recorded albums with such legends as Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson, and Les Hooper. He has produced and recorded two albums: "Chicagojazz" and "Carolina Love Moods." His arrangements and compositions are published by Studio P/R, Hal Leonard, William Allen Music, and UNC Jazz Press (Greeley, CO).
