Scope and Content

The Edwin Hughes Memorabilia include photographs, articles by and about Hughes, programs, performances attended, a citation of merit and an honorary doctoral diploma, all collected by the pianist himself. Most of the articles and programs were glued into now seriously decayed notebooks on highly acidic paper; the materials range from 1899 to the 1940s. The materials were originally given to the South Caroliniana Library (University of South Carolina) from Hughes's estate, but were transferred some years ago to the University of South Carolina Music Library.
