Accessing the Collections
Moving Image Research Collections is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The general public as well as students, faculty and staff are invited to come to our 707 Catawba Street facility to view material free of charge.
Onsite access is provided through our reference library. This library consists of over 2,000 hours of material transferred to VHS tapes and DVDs from our film collections. Patrons are encouraged to search our online catalog prior to coming to the library to ensure the desired material is available. Material identified as RC#### or RD#### may be accessed in our reference room.
Access copies for materials not yet transferred can be made upon request, typically within two weeks depending on the volume of requests. Technical and legal constraints may restrict access to certain collections.
Scholars wishing to consult the library for an extended period of time should contact the Director or Curator to make arrangements.
Offsite access to several of the collections, including the Fox Movietone News Collection, is available for a fee. Patrons wishing to have a time-coded screening material customized to their needs and mailed to then should contact the Production Manager to make arrangements.
The fee for customized media is $20 for each story requested.
