The Mathematics Library, located on the third floor of LeConte College, contains more than 18,000 volumes of books and periodicals pertaining to the subject of mathematics. It houses a specialized collection of materials on pure mathematics and some works on applied mathematics. It also maintains reserve materials assigned for all mathematics courses taught at the Columbia campus.The Math Library's holdings represent only a portion of the University Library system's total mathematics collection. Periodicals
Current issues of mathematics journals are shelved in alphabetical order in the periodical display area to the right of the Circulation Desk. Bound back issues of these journals are shelved with the rest of the collection or are requestable from the Library Annex. Consult the library catalog for their call numbers and holdings.Reserves
A selection of collateral reading material assigned for mathematics courses is kept on reserve in the Mathematics Library. Some materials assigned for computer science and statistics courses are also located on Mathematics Reserve. Patrons may obtain reserve materials from Library staff by requesting the item by course number or title. Most items on reserve do not circulate, and the patron must present a University I.D. card before being allowed to use them.Circulation Policy
Most books in the Mathematics Library may be checked out for a period of four weeks. Bound and unbound issues of journals and reference materials are non-circulating and may not be taken from the Library.Facilities
All items in the Mathematics Library are cataloged and may be located through the library online catalog. Catalog terminals are available in the Library and are located behind the Circulation desk.USC affiliates and other visitors are encouraged to use the space for study and research. The Library is furnished with group study tables and individual carrels. Wireless internet services and power strips are available for patrons with laptops. Food and drinks with lids are allowed.
A computer is available for public use. The PC is equipped with programs and software to assist in work and research. Internet Explorer and Firefox are the supported Web Browsers.
The Math Library has one photocopier available for public use. This copier accepts Carolina Cards only. You may add money to your Carolina Card online or at Thomas Cooper Library.
