On May 11th in 1934 a massive dust storm hit the Atlantic Seaboard, caused by millions of tons of topsoil blowing from the Great Plains all the way to the nation's capitol and New York City. As one of the era's worst climate disasters, the event highlighted the plight of farmers in the midwest during the Great Depression.
