Mr. K. D. Kennedy, Jr., established this endowment to support the Robert Burns collection at Thomas Cooper Library. Funds will be used to acquire or preserve materials, issue publications and produce events and programs.

The Burns Collection

Mr. Kennedy visited the G. Ross Roy Collection of Robert Burns and Scottish Literature at the University Libraries and wished to support its work and future development through the establishment of this Endowment. The Burns Collection, acquired from Professor Roy in 1989, is now widely recognized as one of the best Burns collections in North America. It regularly attracts researchers from around the world.

An additional gift by Mr. Kennedy allowed the library to purchase a rare early American edition of Burns's Poems, chiefly in the Scottish Dialect (Wilmington, Delaware, 1804).
