This endowment was established for the purpose of acquiring and preserving materials in the Irvin Department of Rare Books and Special Collections.
Barbara Graham
Burke L. Graham, ’74, established this endowment in honor of his mother Barbara L. Graham and in memory of his father David M. Graham. Mrs. Graham has been a friend of the Libraries and served on the Ex Libris Society Executive Committee from 2007-2010

The Graham Acquisition and Preservation Endowment has supported the acquisition of a first edition of Richard Braithwaite’s The English Gentlewoman (London: Printed by B. Alsop and T. Favcet for Mitchell Spark...), 1631. Which is bound with: The English Gentleman (London: Printed by Felix Kyngston and are to be sold by Robert Bostock...), 1633.
These conduct books suggest rules for social conduct and etiquette. Sections of The English Gentlewoman include “Apparell”, “Behaviour”, “Complement”, “Decency”, and “Honour” and sections of The English Gentleman include “Disposition”, “Education”, “Vocation”, “Recreation”, and “Acquaintance”.
