Recently, we put up two new exhibits in our gallery at the Hollings Library.
“When Vision and Strength were Needed” runs through Nov. 30, 2011. The exhibit focuses on three significant Jewish members of the South Carolina General Assembly whose collections we hold: Isadore Lourie, Harriet Keyserling, and Solomon Blatt.
This exhibit was planned to coincide with the Joint Annual Conference of the Southern Jewish Historical Society and The Jewish Historical Society of SC, meeting here in Columbia today through Sunday. The group will be at the Hollings Library this Saturday enjoying panel sessions and a reception.
“The Wartime Experience” runs through Jan. 31, 2012, and was planned to coincide with a memorable book signing event held here earlier this week for Lewis Sorley’s latest book, Westmoreland: The General who Lost Vietnam. Dr. Sorley conducted research for his book at the South Caroliniana Library here on campus. The Caroliniana holds the papers of General Westmoreland.
