"Main Street to Capitol Hill"

picture of congress week postersWe’re celebrating Congress Week this week at SCPC!  What is Congress Week? Glad you asked!

How can you participate in Congress Week?  Well…

1) Check out the “Celebrating Congress Week” exhibit in our gallery. We have the collections of close to 20 U.S. Representatives and 4 U.S. Senators. Three exhibit cases showcase some of these collections.

2) Come to the Politics on Film Festival! This Wednesday, we begin a free film festival with a screening of the classic 1939 Jimmy Stewart film, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. The monthly event will offer a screening of a film relating to government and politics, with an introduction to the film, free pizza and soda, and discussion. The screenings begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Hollings Library.  Subsequent films will be shown the third Wednesday of Oct, Nov, Jan, Feb, and March, and will include the Ken Burns 1988 documentary, The Congress, and Advise and Consent, 1962.
