In honor of former Senator “Fritz” Hollings and the dedication of USC’s new Hollings Special Collections Library on Friday, July 23, the Statehouse Report ran this photograph. The caption reads:
During his tenure as Governor of South Carolina (1959-1963), Ernest “Fritz” Hollings promoted participation in blood drives by giving his arm to the cause. Here he seems to be enjoying the preliminary check-up given by the nurse.
The Hollings papers are one of almost one hundred collections held by South Carolina Political Collections at the University of South Carolina.
