Due to its growing popularity, this year’s   Christmas on the Potomac” holiday card exhibit is bigger (five display cases) and better (ornaments!).

This gorgeous card — sent in 1998 to Sen. Fritz Hollings by the Ambassador of Japan — is from a woodblock print that features a detail of the Washington Monument, created in Japan in 1935 by Kawase Hasui (1883-1957). The original is held by the Smithsonian Institution.

The South Carolina Political Collections exhibit is on display in the Main Lobby of Thomas Cooper Library now through January 4.
