Being a history buff, I am really glad to see the Keowee Courier and Anderson Intelligencer added. It is hard sometimes to find out more about some the local history, such a Manse Jolly, the Prince of Dark Corners or the Mill riot in Honea Path long long ago. I will see something on PBS and then want to find out more and get frustrated sometimes. But this will help!

Thanks for your query. Since Stokes Bridge, S.C. appears to be located in the Pee Dee region, you might have luck finding Simpson Skinner in the Marlboro Democrat newspaper which was published in Bennettsville, S.C. We expect that the Marlboro Democrat will be loaded into Chronicling America in the next few months, when it will then be available for searching. Sounds like a good story!

I need help finding Simpson Skinner, Stokes Bridge, SC. I believe he is listed in the August 1881 newspaper along with several other men who were hit by lightening. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Great news! I love historical newspapers. I also added links to them from the SC Newspaper page on the FamilySearch Research Wiki (http://goo.gl/Z0sTH). I'd highly encourage the team to make sure there are links to these papers from many different resources so they are more easily found. Thanks!
